Hey there! Welcome to determinedtosucceed.com. T.G.I.F.! It’s Friday, July 30, 2010. Like a news reporter coming to you live from the scene I am writing today from my Sweet Home Chicago. I got a wild hair (a wild grey hair, that is) to attend my high school’s 40-year all-class reunion tonight. I honestly don’t know what my weight is today, so I will be weighing myself after this weekend (which means I better make damn sure I don’t overindulge in hot dogs and pizza). Check out today’s blog: “EVERYBODY WANG CHUNG TONIGHT”
TODAY’S WEIGHT LOSS TIP: If you know you’re going into a situation (event, meeting, social occasion) where food will be served (and not necessarily food good for you) make sure you eat something beforehand. It will help keep you from excessively (and mindlessly) eating when attending.

TODAY’S BLOG ENTRY: “EVERYBODY WANG CHUNG TONIGHT”
How many of you went to your 20-year high school reunion? Show of hands…anyone…anyone… Two years ago in August was my 20th anniversary of graduating high school and I didn’t go primarily because, one, it was expensive, and two, because of Facebook. Well, that was then and this is now. Recently I learned that good ‘ol Kenwood Academy was hosting an all-class 40-year reunion today, actually held at the school. You know, just like in the movies. I always secretly thought that was cool since I was nerdy enough to like certain aspects of my schooling particularly the bricks and mortar that made up my “homes away from home.” So I am here and it should be fun. Now, if I can just avoid all the food… Click here to jump right to today’s blog entry!
WORTH THE SPLURGE – PALMA. If you ever find yourself in New York City head on over to Greenwich Village. Nestled within it’s eclectic streets is a wonderful little Italian restaurant called Palma. It was there I had one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. “WORTH THE SPLURGE” is a list of places and foods from around the world worth the calories. And if you guys have any suggestions, from anywhere, SEND THEM ON IN, but don’t forget to tell me where the place is, what items are “Worth the Splurge” and describe them to me. Memories of My Mother. This very personal page is devoted to my mother, JoAnn Larson, who passed away on June 9, 2009 from pancreatic cancer. Today is the one-year anniversary of my mom’s passing. It’s rainy here in southern New Jersey just as it was the day I scattered her ashes in the park we used to go to when I was a kid. So on this day the thing I wanted most was just to talk to my mom. I miss her voice so much and just being able to pick up the phone to call. So… CLICK HERE TO READ MY NEW ENTRY: “A LETTER TO MY MAMA.”
